Today, Before and After

Oh, sweet mercy. What a day it's been. We're teetering on the brink of the toddler phase, and that kid is getting into everything. I had to solo parent today, because Phil's on a work trip. Solo parenting was a lot easier before The Kid learned how to move. He's crawling now, and even taking a few steps. He loves moving. The only time he stopped moving today was when he spent two hours taking his (usually 3+ hour) nap. I am so tired. This evening, I filled the travel crib with toys, and penned him in there. I turned on my favorite babysitter, Television, and took a much-needed break.

Confessing feels good. Now that I've vented, I want to take a minute to anticipate your thoughts about that first paragraph. I figure there will be at least four different reactions:
1) "Be grateful you have a child."
2) "Wait until you have more than one child."
3) "Why did you even have a child?" and
4) "[Mute sympathy]."

I could respond to the first three (I'm grateful every day. I don't know how people manage. I had a child because I wanted to, so get out of my uterus.), but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that your reaction is the fourth. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Bella and I spent the last hour and a half cleaning up today's messes. Bella mostly just followed me around, but it was nice to have company. I documented our work so I could look back at how much I accomplished. I also documented it because I thought you might find it amusing.

I'm always thinking of others.

Goodnight, from the most exhausted creature in the world.

  1. Looks like The Kid is into everything, lots of sympathy!

    1. EVERYTHING! His creativity is exhausting. :)
